Now that I’m exercising on my own, I want the same guarantee from my home gym equipment. Fortunately, I found a way to make that happen. I can do a long, hard routine without any squeaking or rocking. The quality of the construction is higher than most of the more expensive models I tested. This is an elliptical built for a workout!

If you want good value for the money, then this is the elliptical trainer for you. The affordable price is not reflected in the quality or construction of the machine. Weslo is so confident that you will love this machine they offer a 90-day warranty. I found more expensive trainers that lacked most of the features you get with the Momentum 620. After including this machine in my workout, I noticed an increase in both my stamina and in my calories burned. I can recommend this trainer for anyone just starting to exercise or for those hard-core athletes looking for a challenge.

Minimum Price Minimum Features

Budget is the primary deciding factor for most consumers entering into the exercise market today.  Weslo, aware of that fact offers several elliptical trainers in the $200-$300 price range.  Previously Weslo offered cheap equipment manufactured with cheap parts.  However, they have upgraded their quality a bit and now in this price range you get basic, stripped down equipment.  Weslo is not a good choice for anyone but the beginner level user.  Made specifically for users who are looking to lose a little weight and improve their health.

Perfect for Beginners

The Weslo brand of elliptical equipment can be found online and locally at Sears and Wal-Mart, which are popular suppliers because of the price.  Icon Fitness also sells the Weslo line online on their website.  Elliptical machine reviews note the Weslo elliptical is a great machine for beginners just getting into exercising, but after using the machine over a year or two they are looking to move up to higher quality machines with more features, such as longer stride and more levels of resistance.  However, some users complain the Weslo elliptical trainer tended to be unstable and noisy which is a large drawback during exercise.

A Couple of Good Elliptical Machines

The Weslo Momentum 730 Discount Elliptical Trainer, available for around $180, is a perfect machine for beginners.  The 730 has an 18” stride, hand grip pulse monitor, LCD display console, adjustable manual resistance, added read-out: revolutions per minute and warranty: 90 days parts & labor.

The Weslo Momentum 750 elliptical trainer, at $200, is the perfect elliptical for a beginner.  For the budget minded, the 750 with manually adjustable resistance, LCD display console, compact design, 4 pre-set programs, 17” stride, hand grip pulse monitor, warranty: 90 days parts and labor.

The Weslo 950 elliptical trainer has the essentials for around $300.  Giving you a good upper body workout, 10 pre-set workouts, manual resistance, hand grip heart monitor, 16” stride, book rack & drink holder and 90 day warranty.

Out of the entire Weslo line, two machines The Weslo Momentum 220X, and The Weslo Momentum 620 were not recommended by professionals.  Citing cheap parts, noise and instability it is a good idea to give these two machines a wide berth.

Extended Warranty is a Necessity
Pros and fitness experts suggest that you ignore the “250 lb user” weight limit. The real limit is closer to 140-160 lb max and that is being overly gracious. The Weslo Momentum 630 elliptical trainer is made with lower grade parts, so expect issues and save time and energy by buying the extended 2 year warranty at time of purchase.

Buyer Beware
The small footprint may be the deciding factor for many buyers who choose to purchase the Weslo Momentum 630 elliptical trainer. Small at 6″x23″x13″ allows for this exercise machine to fix almost anywhere, the bedroom, living room, corner in the basement, wherever you may be tight on space. The size along with the shoddy design contributes to the instability in the Weslo Momentum 630 elliptical trainer which allows the machine to rock from side to side. It does not matter if you are on tile or cement floors, the rocking and noise continues. This machine is also very noisy, and rattles and squeaks during exercise. Like we need another drawback in design, but the foot pedals are too far apart, which makes for an uncomfortable workout. Read some elliptical machines reviews first! Consumers who want to save money should take these concerns into strong consideration. Why spend money on something that you just may not enjoy using?

Our Final Word
The Weslo Momentum 630 elliptical trainer is for small adults or teens but we not recommended it for anyone else. While it is difficult to find a good elliptical trainer for less than $299, and we suggest increasing your budget a bit. The Weslo Momentum 630 elliptical trainer is made by Icon Fitness with the intent to sell them to consumers who do not research this purchase and once stuck with it, will donate to charity and not jump through the hoops of returning the machine for a refund.

Try Instead
We do recommend a few budget ellipticals under $400, HealthRider C550e or the Eclipse 1100HR. Both cost more than the Weslo Momentum 630 elliptical trainer but the difference is worth it. You could also take a look at another Weslo trainer, the Weslo Momentum 730 Discount Elliptical Trainer, which could give you a good workout for your investment too.
